What are friends for?

Standard

I am possibly one if the luckiest people when it comes to best friends. I have three of them, I could no sooner pick a star in the heavens than chose one over the others. The past few days have been a testament to how lucky I am.
When I became ill a few days ago, I was not only feeling like seven shades of awful but genuinely worried as I hadn’t been that unwell for the far side of ten years. One friend, who I was staying with when it hit, gave me every homemade and store bought recipe that she had, then made sure I got home alright. When she came to visit me later in the evening, she bought me several presents just to cheer me up. This morning I got a call from another friend who, when she heard I was under the weather, went out and got me some chicken noodle soup and fruit juice, and then spent the day with me, just to make sure I was ok.
My friends are amazing, I would genuinely be lost without them and even though there are periods of time that I don’t see them or talk to them, it doesn’t matter because we are always there for each other when we’re in need, and go the extra mile just to cover those little things that make each other smile.
Without my friends I wouldn’t be who I am today, or have as bright an outlook on what could otherwise be called a bleak existence. In the words of one of my heroes; my friends are my power.
